A Chuck’s Tradition ....
A special Thanksgiving Dinner has been offered at Chuck’s Restaurant since 1992. In conjunction with Parks Community Thanksgiving Dinner, Inc. thousands of meals have been prepared over the years by volunteers helping neighbors enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
Chuck’s owner, Linda Bisignano joined forces with Parks Community by offering her restaurant as the location for food preparation and distribution. What grew from serving about 100 dinners in 1984 has grown to approximately 3700 by 2019. Dinners include turkey, ham, sweet potatoes, gravy, dressing, green beans, cranberry sauce, roll, and piece of pie.
The volunteer group fought through many difficulties in 2013. Increased food cost, an increase in demand but as food preparation was well under they lost their biggest supporter when Linda passed away after a long battle with cancer. While a different experience for all the group they pushed on through with their efforts to set an all time record for the number of meals served.
In March, 2014 Chuck’s new owner, Emily Jones, met with the committee and assured them the restaurant would remain the home of the Parks Annual Thanksgiving Dinner. Co-Chairs, Linda Tullis and Bob Iverson, while determined the dinner would go on were pleased to put this behind them and focus on 2014.
The dinner is put together by the power of volunteers. Chuck’s Restaurant does not handle the volunteer requests or reservations for home delivered dinners. For dinner reservations (pick up or home delivery) call 515-875-5229. Parties interested in volunteering should contact....
